Pictures from the 2008 Beijing Olympics (Men’s MTB race)

Finally, we get some Olympic pictures up!

ASCII

The Czech Republic suffers on the course. Time for a beer 😛

Over 4 months after the actual event, here is the first batch, from the mens’ Mountain Bike competition.

This event was by some margin the best one we went to, especially because the organisers were obliged to allow spectators up close to the participants, despite their wishes (I heard of pushing and shoving at the women’s event the day before) and the crowd really enjoyed the action. Most people were locals taking advantage of the cheap tickets and had no idea of what MTB is so it was really cool to see them enjoy the race and get carried away, crying out all the names of the nations – big and small, no partisanship, except when the poor lone Chinese rider came through, when the volume went way high 🙂 Julien Absalon won it, and he trashed the course, it looked like he would lap the silver medalist!

The pix are not all great and I have had no time to edit them, but there are a lot, over 300!!

You may find it easier to do a picture search and put in your own titles.
